Light Output
Light output is measured in lumens and is directly related to the lamp's illumination. When comparing energy efficient lamps to traditional light sources, lumens should be used to determine equivalent light output. For example, a ProLED 10W BR30 provides 670 initial lumens and a 65W Incandescent 750 initial lumens. You must compare the lamps based on lumens not on wattage to make sure you select the correct lamp.
Lumen maintenance is a measurement of how a lamp maintains its light output over time. Lumen depreciation is a measure of how much the light output of a lamp will change over the lifetime of the lamp. This can be due to multiple factors; the evaporation of tungsten from a filament of an incandescent or halogen lamp on the wall of a lamp; emissive material deposition on a fluorescent or compact fluorescent lamp; arc tube deterioration of a high intensity discharge lamp, or degradation of diodes and phosphors in an LED. Rated at 40% of average life for most products.

Wattage
When comparing energy efficient lamps to traditional light sources, it's important to understand lumens and wattage. so you can determine the correct light output. Light output is measured in lumens and directly relates to the lamp's or fixture's illumination. Wattage is the energy consumed to produce the light output. Incandescent sources consumed a lot of energy to produce light. Energy efficient sources like LED lamps consumer less energy (lower rated wattage) while producing equivalent light output. This is measured by lumens per watt (LPW).
In the example, a 10W ProLED Reflector lamp produces the same light output as a 65W Incandescent. The lower wattage on the ProLED lamp means it consumes 55 less watts or 85% savings over the Incandescent lamp. Multiply those savings by the number of lamps in the downlights in your kitchen!
Color Temperature
Color Temperature also known as Correlated Color Temperature or CCT is defined as the actual color of the light source. It helps create the mood of a space and is measured in Kelvins (K). Common color temperatures are 2700K, 3000K, 4100K. Lower temperatures such as 2700K are warm and comfortable and are typically used in residential and hospitality. Higher temperatures are cool and clean and used in healthcare and education.
To select the correct color temperature, look for the color temperature ordering code in the product code. CCT is represented as the last 2 numbers in the 3 digits within the part number, for example, 927 is a lamp with 2700K CCT.
Color Rendering Index (CRI)
Color Rendering is the defined as the ability of a light source to accurately produce color in objects. It’s measured on a scale of 0 to 100. The higher the CRI, the more true to life colors appear, as they would in natural daylight. Incandescent light sources (100 CRI) offer the best CRI of all electric light sources; meanwhile, Low Pressure Sodium (-44 CRI) is the worst.
CRI is comprised of R values 1-8 (pastels) - where R9-12 are saturated solids and R13-14 are earth tones. Since CRI only measures R1-R8, it leaves out a critical component in R9. R9 represents the red color range, and is generally where LED sources are the weakest. Skin tones, art work, clothing and produce are all more "dull" with lower R9 values. Look for high CRI for true to life colors and R9 values exceeding 50 for rich and brilliant colors.
To find the lamp's CRI, look in the product specifications or in products like Linear and Compact Fluorescent and LED look in the product code. CRI is represented as the first number in the 3 digits within the part number, for example, 927 is a lamp with 90 CRI.
